My Summer 17 Must-Haves

It’s almost mid-week and I hope everyone has been blessed with a great week so far and for those who are facing challenges keep yah head up ❤

So, It’s officially summer and I know everybody is excited with every sunshine causing the most beautiful beach days of the year. With the new season upon us comes the urge to want new things. And there is nothing wrong with that but at the same time there is also a need to declutter. Maybe donate a few old pieces of clothing you don’t need anymore to salvation army or re-sell them to Plato’s closet etc. After that we can get started on our wishlist or must-haves haul. Here’s a list of summer essential I need in my life.

Mule Flats

So, think cosy flats. They are absolutely gorgeous and a definite staple for any closet. They also come in handy on days when you don’t have any pedi and want to somewhat cover your toes; these are perfect for that. Very high fashion and stylish and they are perfect for whatever look you are trying to achieve. Definitely certified streetstyle.

Moroccan Pouf (Ottoman)

Hand woven with precision by the Berber woman in Morocco, these Moroccan Poufs otherwise known as floor pillows are nothing short of absolute beauty. They are so unique and add depth to your home decor…..they are a must have. I neeeeedddd 😩.

Straw Hats

These are a must have. Summer calls for never ending beach days, pool days and vacations; it just wouldn’t be right without the perfect beach hat.

Straw Totes

These beautiful woven chic basket-like totes are the perfect thing to grab before you head out the door. They are super earthy and gives off an island vibe.

Little Yellow Dress (LYD)

You know how they say every girl should have a LBD…yah sure. However, for the summer eyes are set on a gorgeous yellow dress. Yes….sunshine yellow is a must for summer especially for my highly melanated sisters….yasss! There is nothing like a highly melanated sis in a yellow dress 😍.

Mule

Walking around in stilettos this summer….no bueno! Mules for the win! They are absolutely hands down the it-shoe of summer 17. They are easily a go to; day or night, very accessible and very chic. The chunky low heel makes it so comfortable to walk in. These should be a definite staple for the summer.

What’s on you summer must have list?

4 Ways to keep you hydrated all summer long

(In my Ding Dong voice)

” Di summer is back back back….Di summer is hatt hatt hatt

We turning up aye we turning up

Aye its a holidayyy-ayyy ayee aye aye aye

Aye it’s a sunny dayyy-ayy aye aye aye

It’s a nice sunny evening, a cool afternoon

Nobady has to work no nobady goes to school”

Mi nuh know bout di work part still but you get the picture 😂😂😂. Its summer and I love you Ra and all the blessings and bountiful 🌞 you keep sending down.

Staying hydrated all summer long is so important. With the temperatures rises our bodies are constantly adjusting in order to stay cool and staying hydrated is is one major way to do so. Water is life, cliche but it is. Our bodies are made up of 75% water, almost all the functions within the body needs water in order to operate efficiently. Being hydrated keeps our cells clean, energized, and efficient. Here are five staples outside of water itself that are sure to help you stay hydrated all summer long.

1. Cucumber

Cucumber has a water content of 96.7% the highest water content of them all. So yes this is the holy grail 🙌. This can be eaten in salads, yogurts, smoothies or however you prefer it. Cucumbers are absolutely delicious; prevents headaches and is bound to leave you refreshed.

2. Strawberry

Strawberry  has a water content of 92%. It is so freaking juicy lol like if you know me you know i’m obsessed with strawberry. It can be eaten just as it is, fruit salad, covered in chocolate, smoothie or however you choose. If that wasn’t enough to convince you then guess what?!…..It is rich in antioxidants…definitely a must have.

3. Watermelon

Water melon has a water content of 91.5%. Everyone in the world must has eaten water melon before and I know you would agree with me when I say it’s soooo juicy like you’d bite into it and the juice would start to run down your hand. It is beyond refreshing, contains antioxidants and can be eaten anyway you like.

4. Coconut Water

Coconut water has a water content of 95%. It has so many benefits such as natural electrolytes, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, antioxidants, phytonutrients and the list goes on and on. It has and amazing taste; indulge in as many coconut water as you can this summer and if you can get it straight off the tree in its exocarp don’t hesitate. Added bonus, in Jamaica we say the coconut water washes off the heart so go for it some a unuh heart dutty bad. 😂😂 Clean heart mi seh!

Natural Soap Bars

With a shower like this you’ll definitely need the right soap 😊

A healthy lifestyle not only includes what you put in your body, it also involves what you put on your body! Taking care of my body inside and out is so important. One way I do so is by using natural organic soap bars. I’m so obsessed with them; the smell is amazing and they work wonders on my body.

1. They are made with organic ingredients. Unlike soaps from these big companies place in numerous stores filled with harmful ingredients that can be detrimental to your skin later on. Organic soaps on the other hand are free of herbicides, chemical fertilizers, or pesticides. They typically include oats, essential oils *my favourite*, coconut oil, aloe, honey among many other natural, body healing ingredients.

2. Your body is going to thank you, seriously. Using organic soap has tremendous benefit. It locks moisture into my skin leaving it silky smooth and soft all while detoxifying my body and skin of any residual toxins.

3. These organic soap bars are antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-fungal. These properties makes it healthier and a  perfect choice for people who experience acne, oily skin and poison ivy among other skin conditions. It way better than using a prescribed cream whose ingredients contain words I can’t pronounce.

4. The environment will thank you. Due to the soap being organic that mean there is not pesticide and animal cruetly activity going on. As a result there is less havock being done to the environment bad enough as it is.

Natural organic soaps might cost a bit more as compared to other soaps but when it comes to taking care of my body that doesn’t really matter when the benefits outweighs the cost. Here are 4 of my favourite organic soap bars and where to get them at an affordable price.
